A bit more on clean air organising:
Artists deserve safe workplaces.
No-one wants to still be thinking about COVID-19, but with one in ten infections leading to long-term illness, we cannot afford not to. Performers rely on our bodies for work, and nightly exposure to live audiences is inherently high-risk for contagious airborne illnesses. Not thinking about COVID is costing artists their careers, and locking out audiences who are unable to safely participate. Reducing the risk of infection is vital to both the health of individual artists and the ongoing health of the arts at large.
Improving indoor air quality is a simple and highly effective way to protect the health and safety of artists, audiences, and the arts industry more generally. Clean Air Naarm is establishing a library of cleaner air devices available to borrow for free for artists in Naarm/Melbourne. While everyone benefits from clean air and a reduction in the risk of infection, this project can also specifically help improve access to live art for immune-compromised artists and audience members that would not otherwise be able to safely participate.
